I am super excited to be part of this panel for Litquake on World Food Day, Oct 16, from 6-8 pm at Mechanics’ Institute in San Francisco: Savoring Stories. I’ll be with co-panelists Soleil Ho, Chef Tu David Phu, Viola Buitoni, and Maria Finn, moderated by Henry Hsu.
We will be discussing food, culture, justice, and healing.
If you are in San Francisco, I hope to see you there!

San Francisco Chinatown Week 3 of the @kpmedschool #culinarymedicine elective and I am feeling so proud and fulfilled. In addition to #bean day and #fish day and a #spices workshop in which we made golden milk, these fabulous 4th years made me proud by teaching a class at @hollywoodsunsetfree clinic. They taught knife skills, expert kale massaging by @aylaylay5 and DIY vinaigrette dressing, in addition to the nutrition benefits of a #plantforward diet. With simultaneous translation into Spanish as well. Everyone learned something- to enjoy kale more by massaging it, to save money, improve health and by making your own salad dressings, and the best review— the patient who said “I’d seen these vegetables before but didn’t know how to make them, but now I do and I will”— and took pics on his phone to remember. Mission accomplished! I’ve been working a lot recently and managing some personal stuff. Today I lived the six pillars of #lifestylemedicine in a quick hike just outside the city and it was just #whatthedoctorordered! Week 2 of the @kpmedschool #culinarymedicine elective is a wrap and this group is on 🔥! Week 1 of the Culinary Medicine elective @kpmedschool is a wrap! What a joy to teach this engaged and fun group of med students in their final stretch before becoming doctors! Working alongside my dream team of colleagues as course co-director on creating, continuously improving, and teaching this elective is incredibly fulfilling and meaningful. We cooked almost 40 different plant foods in two days— our microbiomes will be happy. Happy Lunar New Year! 🧧🔥🐴 Dark leafy greens are the way to health— so make them delicious! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who made #ciahkhl such a success again, from Dr. David Eisenberg who created this life-changing conference more than 20 years ago, program director @rootedfood and my fellow planning committee members and faculty, to the fabulous team @ciaatcopia @ciaindustryleadership and @harvardchansph .
