Oh my lunch is so good, had to share: I had a lot of fun talking about Thanksgiving food with @sfchronicle @sfchronicle_food - my favorite holiday. I didn’t realize it was in print! The cherry on top is that they used a headshot taken by my daughter, which seems very appropriate for a family holiday. As some of you may know, I was a National Kale Day ambassador with @drewramseymd way back! I have created and taught many kale salads since then (including the how and why of massaging kale at my supperclub last night!) Last weekend, I had the distinct honor of being the keynote speaker at the new Nutritional Sciences Teaching Kitchen at the Helen Diller Anchor House at University of California, Berkeley. If you know my work as a physician/chef/cooking teacher/champion of culinary medicine, you know how fulfilling it was for me to teach in a space created to train future dietitians and scientists in how to translate nutrition science to the plate, for the health of people and the planet.... My first recipe for @foodandwine ! I’m thrilled to announce that one month from today, I’ll be teaching farm-to-table cooking classes at @rancholapuerta @lacocinaquecanta during the week of 12/6-12/13. If you’re looking for an end of year wellness getaway, I’d love for you to join me at this incredible 4,000-acre garden oasis in Tecate, Mexico, near San Diego. You’ll experience healing spa therapies, farm-fresh cuisine, world-class fitness, inspirational seminars, and my farm-to-table cooking classes! I have heard about this magical place for years, and I can’t wait for this incredible opportunity. Thank you for coming to tonight’s #thrivekitchenathome: Plantbased Thanksgiving! Food is… connection. I was passing by a bookstore recently when I spotted a new vegetarian cookbook called “All I Think About Is Food” (awesome title @mametown!). I felt seen! As someone born with a tasting spoon in my mouth, I never imagined, as a child, as a premed, as a medical student and resident, that I would be able to combine my lifelong passion for food and cooking with my medical career. This article from goes into great depth about the chapters that followed, but I think this quote provides a good summary:
