Dear SpiceboxTravels readers,

It’s been a while since my last post! I apologize, I’ve been busy! I will be back soon with a fresh new recipe, but for now, I’d like to share a recent profile in my medical school’s alumni magazine.  Many people wonder how on earth I ended up taking a break from my medical career to attend culinary school a few years ago, and I share some insights on my “why” in this article, The Spice of Life.

In between teaching many classes and recipe testing, I had a chance to talk a little more about one of the cooks who inspired me, my husband’s late Auntie Doll.  Check out the Food for Health blog, where I talk about Auntie Doll and share a few of her recipes.

Auntie Doll was an influence on my career detour and on my cooking.  Have any of you made a career change or detour? What was that experience like for you, and how has it impacted your life? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments!

Thank you for reading! If you’re in the San Francisco area and want to cook with me, join me in the Thrive Kitchen! There’s a different class each month and you can find the schedule here.  And if you can’t make a class, please join me on Facebook: www.Facebook.com/TheDoctorsSpicebox.  Happy cooking!
