How and Why I Began to Practice Culinary Medicine

As most of you know, I took a year off from my medical practice in 2016 to go to culinary school (which I detailed in weekly posts).  I called it a midlife crisis, but a friend told me it could at best qualify as a Type A midlife crisis.  True.  That said, it was one of the best things I have ever done in my life, not only because I followed my passions, but because I’ve also been able to use that training and experience to enrich my profession as a primary care doctor.  I was interviewed and filmed recently about my unusual path, how I got there, and most importantly, why.  Read on to get the scoop!

  1. Hi,
I am so thrilled that you are expanding your md with culinary skills. I am a Food for Life Instructor with PCRM and I am hoping I can assist you in the Sacramento area any way I can.
    Best Wishes,
    Linda Middlesworth
